Glitter Glamour at the Gala

It was a glamorous evening of fashion with "real" celebrities like Ashley Robinson of the Seattle Storm and

celebrity look-alikes, like Audrey Hepburn. Our "Fashion in Film" runway show, produced in conjunction with the Art Institute of Seattle, offered up a full array of Hollywood stars.

Here's Tippi Hedren from "The Birds" and

Napoleon Dynamite.

Here, local celebrity Herb Bridge plays Tony Curtis, escorting Marilyn Monroe in "Some Like It Hot." Sixty models representing 30 films came down the runway last night, some strolled, some pranced, one somersaulted and

the exquisite Billie Holiday from "Lady Sings the Blues," positively glided. The models' clothing and accessories will be available for purchase at the Glitter Sale, Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15.

I was SO disappointed to hear that the goodwill hear has a "glitter sale." the whole fun of the goodwill is finding unexpected treasures on a regular basis. It's no fun if the company is hoarding all of the good stuff for a special sale with an obnoxiously long line and jacked-up prices. Goodwill gets this stuff for free - they shouldn't be ridiculous about it. Low-income people like me used to be able to get treasures at Goodwill despite having little money, and now you are excluding us from it??

Thank you for contacting us. We always appreciate hearing form our customers. The Glitter Sale is celebrating its 26th Anniversary this year, and our shoppers tell us how much they look forward to this event.

Glitter Sale items are priced using the same criteria we use for all our merchandise. Designer and vintage items are somewhat higher than name brand goods, but that said, you’ll still find all of our prices “fashionably” low.

We often have a line to get into the sale at the beginning of the day, but it does tend to thin out later in the afternoon. Glitter Sale regulars actually prepare for their wait in line—and even look forward to it. They bring friends to help them pass the time. Some tailgate. And we do offer donuts and coffee to early birds.

Remember, the Glitter Sale is free and open to the public--and proceeds benefit job training and education in the community. I hope you’ll give it a try this year.
